Jakson opens second property in Jim Corbett

With one boutique hotel in Phaltan, Maharashtra which is dedicated to sustainable hospitality, Jakson Hospitality has now opened its second property called ‘The Tiger Groove in Jim Corbett’ and expect to put the same values into its new offering so that it grows up to influence all its stakeholder similarly. Sandeep Talaulicar, Managing Director, Jakson Hospitality, says, “We look forward to repositioning the Tiger Groove into a wilderness resort that creates memories for everyone that sleeps and eats in its arms. Regenta & Royal Orchid Hotels to open in Noida, Goa and Belagavi

Regenta & Royal Orchid Hotels has recently announced signing up of three new properties; in North Goa, Noida (Uttar Pradesh) and Belagavi (Karnataka). All three properties are scheduled to open within the next 2 months. Of the three new openings, two properties (in Goa and Noida) will be positioned under the Regenta Central brand while the one in Belagavi will be positioned as a Regenta Resort. The new hotel in Goa marks the groups foray in the tourist-intensive and high-demand area of North Goa, and further strengthens the group’s presence in the destination, where two resort properties are currently operating, in the south. The Regenta Central Noida will be situated within the city-centre area, close to the Delhi Metro line and will feed a strong demand pipeline originating from industrial companies and IT parks which are in close proximity. Located on the old Belagavi- Goa route, Regenta Resort Belagavi will feature contemporary rooms and cottages and will serve business as well as leisure guests, while also providing contemporary banquet and open spaces for weddings and events. Avani rebrands two resorts in Krabi, set for 2019 and 2020 launch

Avani Hotels & Resorts has signed two resorts in Krabi, Thailand, which will undergo renovation to bring them in line with Avani standards. The two hotels will be fully rebranded as Avani+ Koh Lanta Krabi Resort, set to launch by mid-2020, and Avani Ao Nang Cliff Krabi Resort, which will open its doors under the new branding in late 2019. While Avani+ Koh Lanta Krabi Resort will have 83 rooms with direct access to a secluded white sand beach adjacent to Klong Dao Beach, Avani Ao Nang Cliff Krabi Resort will be a 178-key property just 70 kms south of Krabi International Airport and will overlook Ao Nang Beach. “We are extremely excited to include Krabi in our portfolio as the Avani brand expands further through such agreements with trusted partners within Thailand,” said Javier Pardo, Vice President – Operations, Avani Hotels & Resorts. The newly rebranded resorts will bring the total number of Avani properties in Thailand to nine.

Hilton marks 2019 as year of most luxury hotel openings; 11 properties to launch by year-end

Christopher J Nassetta, President and CEO, Hilton, has said that the company is on track to open more luxury properties in 2019 than in any previous year of its 100-year history, with seven hotels expected to open by year’s end (in addition to four openings earlier this year) across its luxury brands Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts, LXR Hotels & Resorts, and Conrad Hotels & Resorts. Hilton’s current and projected luxury openings in 2019, which join the 65 existing luxury properties, include Waldorf Astoria Dubai International Financial Centre; Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal; Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi; The Biltmore, Mayfair in London; Zemi Beach House Resort & Spa in Anguilla; Conrad Hangzhou; Conrad Hangzhou Tonglu; Conrad New York Midtown; Conrad Shenyang; Conrad Tianjin; and Conrad Washington DC. Following this year’s openings, Hilton’s luxury pipeline includes more than 30 properties, approximately 25 of which are expected to open through 2025. “After more than a decade of honing Hilton’s distinct luxury offerings and investing in key markets around the globe, we are embarking upon a very exciting phase for the category,” said Martin Rinck, Executive Vice President and Global Head, Luxury & Lifestyle Group, Hilton. “Over the next five years, starting with this year’s openings, we will start to see the positive impact of our efforts, and we are confident that our amazing portfolio of properties will reinvent luxury travel for Hilton and for the entire industry,” he added.

Ascott adds 26 new properties in 11 countries, debuts in six cities

The Ascott Limited (Ascott) is accelerating its growth globally with the signing of 26 properties with over 6,000 units across 22 cities and 11 countries. The properties, which will open in phases from 2019 to 2023, are mostly signed under management contracts, with three on franchise agreements. The majority of the 26 new properties are in Asia Pacific and have also allowed Ascott to make inroads into six new cities – Atyrau, Kazakhstan; Nairobi, Kenya; Yokohama, Japan; Seongnam, South Korea; and Cam Ranh and Hoi An in Vietnam. Ascott has also expanded its presence in 14 cities – Melbourne and Sydney in Australia; Chengdu, Dongguan, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Wuhan and Xi’an in China; Bogor and Jambi in Indonesia; Cyberjaya in Kuala Lumpur; Cebu in the Philippines; and Bangkok in Thailand. Kevin Goh, Ascott’s Chief Executive Officer, said, “We are fast-expanding Ascott’s global network of properties as we continue to pursue an asset-light business model to boost our recurring fee income. While we achieve strong momentum in expanding our global lodging business through strategic alliances, management contracts, franchise and leases, we are also accelerating the number of new property openings. We are targeting to open over 40 properties with about 8,500 units this year.” Ascott has more than 64,000 operating units and over 48,000 units under development, making a total of more than 112,000 units in over 700 properties.

Marriott’s first W Hotel in Argentina to open in Buenos Aires in 2024

Marriott International has signed an agreement with GNV Group to bring its iconic W Hotels Worldwide brand to Argentina for the first time, in Buenos Aires. The hotel, expected to open in 2024, and its planned residences will be located within a 34-storey, mixed-use tower in Puerto Madero. W Buenos Aires will have a meeting space, restaurants, a rooftop bar with views of the city, and an anticipated 150 rooms. “Puerto Madero is poised to become one of Latin America’s coveted luxury destinations, as residential, office, and retail entities thrive within its chic, bohemian vibe, surrounded by a high-energy nightlife and lush green spaces. We are thrilled to be working with GNV Group to bring the inimitable W experience to the highly desirable Madero Harbour development, as Puerto Madero is one of Buenos Aires’ most sought-after neighbourhoods,” said Laurent de Kousemaeker, Chief Development Officer, Marriott International, Caribbean & Latin America. Radisson group signs second hotel in Algeria, to open with 184 rooms

Radisson Hotel Group has signed the Radisson Hotel La Baie d’Alger in Algiers, its second hotel in Algeria and the first Radisson-branded property in the country. Scheduled to open in 2022, the new-build hotel will have 184 rooms, 308 sqm of meetings and events space that will comprise five meeting rooms and one conference venue, as well as a fully-equipped gym and spa. Elie Younes, Executive Vice President & Chief Development Officer, Radisson Hotel Group, said, “Algeria is a growth market for us in Africa and Algiers is a key city for hotel expansion. This new hotel will complement the Radisson Blu Hotel, Algiers Hydra, which opened its doors last month. There is a limited quality supply in the market and our people and brands will no doubt contribute to transforming the hospitality landscape in this promising country.” The new hotel will be a strong addition to the group’s portfolio of almost 100 hotels in operation and under development across 32 countries in Africa.

Aloft’s first property in Nepal to be managed by Shanti Hospitality Management Services

Marriott International will launch its first Aloft-branded property in Nepal next month, the 167-room Aloft Kathmandu Thamel. The hotel will be managed by Shanti Hospitality Management Services, a vertical of India’s Shanti Hospitality Group which manages multiple brands across locations. Once open, the hotel will house a fine-dining restaurant, an all-day diner, a spa, a temperature-controlled swimming pool, and a banquet facility for conferences and gatherings. Aloft Kathmandu Thamel is located just six kilometres from Kathmandu’s international airport, making it a convenient stay option for those visiting the city.

Sarovar Hotels to add 16 properties across India by end 2019

In a bid to expand its footprint in India, Sarovar Hotels & Resorts has plans to come up with 16 new properties by the end of 2019. With this move, it will be adding approximately 970 rooms to its current portfolio. As of now, the company has 6,000 rooms and manages three properties overseas and has a total of 73 hotels in the country. The upcoming hotels will be categorised under three brands— Sarovar Premiere, Sarovar Portico and Hometel Suites. These hotels will be located in multiple destinations which include Goa, Dehradun, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Udaipur, Junagadh, Dahisar, Dibrugarh, Morbi, Jammu, Bodh Gaya, and Dindi, among others. Amongst the 16 hotels, the majority will be under the Sarovar Portico brand, the hotel at Dahisar will be under Hometel Suites, while the property at Bodh Gaya will be under the Sarovar Premiere brand.
