IHG announces opening of Crowne Plaza Riyadh Palace

IHG has announced the opening of Crowne Plaza Riyadh Palace in partnership with Dur Hospitality. The 304-room hotel adds to the growing portfolio of IHG hotels in Saudi Arabia. Crowne Plaza Riyadh Palace is strategically located in the Ministries Quarter, a popular business district that is close to major Saudi financial institutions and government offices. Delta Hotels marks European debut with hotel in Germany

Delta Hotels has launched Delta Hotels by Marriott Frankfurt Offenbach, marking the European debut of the hotel brand. Situated on the left bank of the Main River between Frankfurt city centre and Offenbach, the hotel is within easy reach of the city’s abundant historic and cultural attractions. InterGlobe Hotels to develop new ibis property in Hebbal, Bengaluru

InterGlobe Hotels have announced commencement of construction of another ibis hotel in Bengaluru. The property is being developed in the important suburban location of Hebbal.  The ibis in Hebbal, will cater to hotel demand generated both from large IT parks such as Manyata Tech Park and Karle Town Centre and will feature 153 rooms and approximately 250 sqm of meeting space. JB Singh, President and CEO of InterGlobe Hotels, developers of IBIS Hotels, said, “With the commencement of construction our latest project in Bengaluru, our footprint in the city grows stronger with the addition of our third asset in the city. Hebbal has developed into an important business destination and we are very extremely bullish and excited about our investment in this major IT hub of the city. OYO pushes into holiday packages with OYO Total Holidays

OYO has made a foray into the holiday packages segment with ‘OYO Total Holidays’ and expects 10 per cent of its total revenues to come from this over the next five years.  “With the leisure segment growing rapidly, we find people taking several short breaks in a year providing a huge opportunity in the holiday package segment. So, launching OYO Total Holidays two months back was a natural progression beyond hotel rooms. Now we will offer one-stop travel solution across the country and select overseas destinations,” OYO Chief Operating Officer Abhinav Sinha said. “In this segment, we will provide end-to-end travel solutions including, hotels, inter and intra travel facilities, sightseeing, tourist guides, all meals and for select locations flights tickets and visa facilities,” Sinha added. In the holiday package segment, OYO is mainly targeting couples, families and friends travelling together between 25-45 years, Sinha said. The company is expecting OYO Total Holidays to contribute up to 10 per cent of the total revenue in five years, he added. OYO Total Holidays offers packages in across major destinations the country and some overseas destinations like Malaysia, Thailand, Dubai, and Nepal packages are offered by OYO Total Holidays. Hotel luxury market to extend to $115.8 billion globally by 2025: Report

According to a report by Grand View Research, Inc, the global luxury hotel market size is being projected to reach $115.8 billion by 2025, registering a 4.3 percent CAGR during the forecast period. Overall, the global hospitality market is expected to grow significantly for a number of factors, including the increase of the purchasing power of its customer base, and rising number of international and domestic tourists taking trips for business and leisure. The report goes on to indicate that travellers opting for lavish vacations tend to look primarily for comfort as well as for a high quality of service being provided. Hotel costs and tariffs, however, is considered to be a secondary concern. To compete in the luxury hotel market, companies focus on providing unique customer experiences, experts say, with special emphasis being placed on investing in infrastructure and technology advanced appliances to be located in their lobbies as well as within individual guest rooms. The report also states that the market continues to boom due to building customer relations by extending to guests the highest possible degree of hospitality. To meet the rising demand for innovative technology offerings in hotels, some of the major players in the market have begun to integrate room control systems on their properties through new Internet of Things (IoT) platforms. HRAWI’s 18th regional convention to be held from June 27-30 in Sri Lanka

The Hotel and Restaurant Association of Western India (HRAWI) will be hosting the 18th edition of its Regional Convention from 27th to 30th June 2018. For the first time the Association will hold its convention overseas in the port city of Colombo in Sri Lanka. Themed ‘Surfing The Wave Of Global Tourism’, the convention will host an interactive three-day programme with a focus on international tourism trends and best trade practices. Centred around hospitality, the event will integrate related business sessions and business networking opportunities for participating professionals. For recreation, post the convention the HRAWI is also organizing tours for delegates in Colombo and Kandy over the next three days. Hilton to eliminate plastic straws across its managed hotels in Asia Pacific

Hilton has announced it will eliminate plastic straws across its managed hotels in Asia Pacific by end 2018, and transition away from plastic bottles from its conference and event spaces. This follows the company’s global commitment to cut its environmental footprint in half and double its social impact investment by 2030. The company will also double the amount it spends with local and minority-owned suppliers, and double its investment in programs to help women and youth around the world. These goals are part of Hilton’s Travel with Purpose corporate responsibility strategy to further the United Nation’s 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda. “As a global hospitality company operating more than 5,300 hotels in over 100 countries and territories, we are committed to have a positive impact on the communities we operate our hotels in,” said Alan Watts, Executive President and President, Asia Pacific, Hilton. “We believe waste is a solvable problem.
