ibis Styles Makassar Sam Ratulangi unveiled in Indonesia

AccorHotels welcomes a new member of the ibis family in Makassar, South Sulawesi, with the opening of ibis Styles Makassar Sam Ratulangi. The 117-room hotel is located in the heart of Makassar city. For events and meetings, the hotel offers four modern meeting rooms with natural light that can cater up to 180 guests. Leisure facilities include an outdoor swimming pool, gym and spa. Garth Simmons, Chief Operating Officer, AccorHotels for Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore, says, “The hotel offers a strong proposition for both leisure and business travellers with its generous all-inclusive room package offering an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet, broadband internet connection, and a host of little extras. Sarovar’s Tetezi Hometel Nairobi, Kenya, set to open by 2019


Sarovar Hotels has signed a new hotel in Nairobi under its value-brand, Hometel. The hotel, Tetezi Hometel Nairobi, will mark Sarovar Hotel’s fourth offering in Kenya’s capital after The Heron Portico, The Zehneria Portico and The Lazizi Premiere. With this, Sarovar will exceed a total of 400 keys in Nairobi and 800 keys in Africa. The 80-key Tetezi Hometel is located along Riverside Drive and is owned by Tetezi House Ltd., that is under the ownership of John Mburu, a renowned and established lawyer. The hotel, upon completion, will offer all modern facilities required for a first-class hotel of international standards. Construction of the project has commenced and the hotel is expected to open in 2019.

JW Marriott Mumbai Sahar to do their bit for Earth Hour


JW Marriott Mumbai Sahar will be participating in Earth Hour 2017, by turning off lights for one hour on March 25, from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm. The hotel will be participating by having its lights dimmed in the public areas (lobby and restaurants) for an hour. It will also ask the guests at the property to join in and support this global movement that spreads awareness and action for the betterment of the environment, by switching off the lights of their room during the said hour. This participation will help the property raise funds for World Wildlife Fund (WWF), where US $1 will be donated for each Marriott property that tweets its Earth Hour activities.

Hilton expands presence in Colombia with signing of Hilton Medellin


Hilton and Constructora Colpatria has announced the signing of a franchise license agreement to open Hilton Medellin, bringing the company’s flagship brand to Colombia’s second largest city. The multi-million project will be one of the largest real estate investments in Colombia this year. The 25-story, 206-room new-build development is planned to open in Q2 2019. NH Hotel Group and Hispania sign an agreement to extend the NH Málaga hotel


NH Hotel Group, a global operator with around 400 hotels in 30 countries, and Hispania, a leading investment vehicle and real estate company in Spain, have reached an agreement for the sale and & lease back of the current NH Málaga hotel as well as the future acquisition of the extension of the hotel, that NH Hotel Group plans to develop in the adjacent plot. The agreement will increase the hotel’s current capacity from 133 rooms to 245. “The transaction is part of the Company’s asset rotation strategy and means improving the hotel and increasing the inventory of rooms once the expansion is completed, taking advantage of its potential under a long-term variable lease agreement”, has explained Ramón Aragonés, CEO of NH Hotel Group.
