Hyatt announces plans for Grand Hyatt Jeju, South Korea

Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced that a Hyatt affiliate has entered into a management agreement with Lotte Tour Development for a Grand Hyatt branded hotel in Jeju City, Jeju Island, South Korea. The new hotel will mark Hyatt’s sixth property in the country, complementing Grand Hyatt Seoul and is expected to be the second largest Grand Hyatt hotel in the world. Grand Hyatt Jeju will make its home in the center of Jeju City, the capital and largest city of Jeju Province. Located south of the Korean Peninsula and only an hour flight from Seoul, the island has become one of the most popular destinations in Korea outside of Seoul. Choice Hotels International has announced Raul Ramirez has joined the company as Vice President, Strategic Finance and Financial Planning & Analysis. In this position, Ramirez will oversee and direct Choice’s existing strategic finance activities and initiatives, including operational analysis, resource allocation, budgeting and forecasting, and multi-year planning. He will also work closely with Choice’s senior leadership and key stakeholders to identify additional opportunities to grow the company’s core domestic and international businesses. Ramirez will report directly to Scott Oaksmith, senior vice president, finance. Ramirez joins Choice Hotels from XO Communications, where he served as vice president, financial planning & analysis and corporate development. There, he notably supported the transformation of the FP&A organization, implemented processes to standardize the company’s $300 million investment portfolio, defined the company’s long-term financial planning strategy and provided cross-functional leadership to support merger and acquisition activities. Earlier in his career, Ramirez also held key positions in corporate development, global operations and financial planning at NII Holdings/Nextel International. Ramirez earned his bachelor’s degree from Tec de Monterrey, Mexico, and a master’s in business administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dusit International has signed a management agreement with Huizhou Yuetai Investment Company to operate two new properties in Huizhou, in China’s Guangdong Province. Opening under Dusit International’s luxury Dusit Devarana and upscale dusitD2 brands respectively, both properties will be located in Huizhou’s Shuangyue Bay, one of the region’s most popular destinations renowned for its scenic hiking trails, white sandy beaches and crystal-clear water.
