Meliá Hotels International has announced the signing of Meliá Shanghai Parkside, a brand new property located within the core area of Shanghai International Tourism and Resorts Zone. This marks the group’s ninth property in China and second in Shanghai, further underscoring Meliá’s commitment to expanding its footprint in the country. The new Meliá Shanghai Parkside, developed by Shanghai Shendi Garden Investment & Construction Ltd., a full subsidiary of Shanghai Shendi Group Co., Ltd., taps directly into the fast growing demand for travel accommodation and F&B facilities from business & leisure tourists to this booming area in Shanghai.
“We are enormously proud to embark on this new project alongside Shanghai Shendi Garden Investment & Construction Ltd.”, said Bernardo Cabot Estarellas, Senior Vice President Asia Pacific of Meliá Hotels International. “With Meliá Shanghai Parkside, our company will become an established leader in hospitality development in this area, bringing our strong resort history and management expertise to life at this new property. We are confident that Meliá Shanghai Parkside will set the benchmark for personalized service and luxury travel accommodation for visitors to this area.”
Meliá Shanghai Parkside, scheduled to open in early 2018, will include a total of 88 rooms in the first phase. Conveniently located right off the main entrance of Shanghai Disneyland, the property can be easily accessed via metro Line 11. Moreover, it is only 20 minutes from Pudong International Airport, the largest airport in Shanghai and a vital international transportation hub.
The hotel will be the perfect pick for both leisure and business focused guests, providing its guests with top quality facilities and services with Spanish touches, combining a premier location with innovative amenities and design. At its doorstep will be an array of entertainment, culture venues, dining and shopping options, granting direct access to Shanghai International Tourism and Resorts Zone. With the substantial growth and upcoming infrastructure development in the area surrounding the property, there are increasingly demands for accommodation in this area.
In 2017, Meliá Hotels International will maintain its robust momentum in Asia, with 17 properties currently in operation and the group is expected to have over 40 by 2022. The group is set to launch this second property in another strategic location in Shanghai, thus reinforcing its presence and growth in China and the Asia-Pacific region.
