Recently, there has been an increase in tourism arrivals from the Asia-Pacific region for Onyx properties in Sri Lanka. Explaining this further,Simon Dell, Vice President and Area General Manager, ONYX Properties in Sri Lanka says,”Asia -Pacific has shown increase in the tourist arrivals in Sri Lanka particularly from India and mainland China. India remains the top source market for our two hotels accounting for approximately 16% of the total guest mix. Leisure travellers account for a majority of our guest mix, with Sri Lanka widely regarded as a ‘must-see’ destination. The second largest segment are those visiting Sri Lanka to see family and friends. There has also been an increase in MICE guests visiting Sri Lanka.”

Vikramjit Singh, President and Chief Revenue Officer, Lemon Tree Hotels, says, “So far Lemon Tree hotels didn’t focus much on MICE or banqueting facility. But going forward we realise that it’s a big segment which is coming into play. We will be setting up largest convention centre hotel in Gurgaon which will be opened by the end of this year. That will have large banqueting facilities. In Mumbai we are building two hotels close to 1,000 rooms which will also have very large banqueting facilities.”

Rattan Keswani, Deputy Managing Director, Lemon Tree Hotel Company says, “GST will majorly have a positive impact on the industry. The Lemon Tree Hotel Company announced the formal opening of two new properties in Vadodara and Dahej besides the refreshed upscale property in Ahmedabad, signalling the group’s focus on Gujarat, in their overall expansion plans across India. Speaking on the occasion of the multi-city launch, Rattan Keswani, Dy. Jaideep Anand, General Manager, The Leela Ambience Convention Hotel, Delhi says, “We have renovated the hotel a great deal since its conversion. We are still in the process of adding few new facilities in the hotel as far as MICE and F&B is concerned. We are planning to open Leela’s signature restaurant like Diya, Spectra etc.”
